52．名词的特殊结构

1）all+抽象名词，相当于very＋同根的形容词或full of＋名词。例如：

At that time Jack was all energy.( very energetic, full of energy)

Helen is all kindness.(very kind)

All wisdom非常聪明　all heart热诚待人　all gratitude非常感激　all attention全神贯注

注意以下用法：all＋单数可数名词结构，该名词前不带冠词，相当于形容词，表示强调，表示“具有……特点”。例如：

Jack is all boy, playing outdoors all day long.杰克一身孩子气，整天在外面玩。

She is all woman.她女性味道十足。

He is all famer.他是个地地道道的农民。

2）all +复数名词，这种结构也表示强调。例如：

She was all smilesafter hearing the good news.

听到这个好消息，她满面笑容。

When the teacher gave the lecture, the students were all ears.

上课时，学生们洗耳恭听。

He is all legs.

他瘦高。

They were all eyeswhen the plane was flying overhead.

3）抽象名词＋itself,这种结构相当于（be very+该名词所表示的品质形容词。例如：

He is tidiness itself.（He is very tidy.）

她非常增洁。

4）of all+复数名词，表示“在所有的……中偏偏”。例如：

Why ask me to go, of all people?
